Stay Prayed Up!

Posted: October 18, 2007 in Religious

Have you ever went days, weeks or even months without praying? I have. It is easy to get caught up in the day to day issues of your life, the good and bad, and try to handle these issues yourself, rather than “take them to God”. Then, what eventually happens is, you hear a word or God speaks to you through someone else or even gives you some sort of sign that he is still in control and you realize that you’ve been slacking in your communication with him. Right then, you make a conscious decision that you are going to praying-hands.jpgpray more often. For me, that first prayer is tough. It’s kinda like when you call someone you haven’t spoke to in a while, you catch up on what’s been happening since last time you spoke. The difference is, he already knows, and you still have to tell him. As that prayer goes on, you begin confessing, apologizing(this is the point where I might shed tears), repenting and thanking him for everything. When speaking to someone else, I may have a hard time remembering different things but when praying, it seems like my memory is working overtime and I can remember every sin I’ve committed since last time I prayed. I’ve come to realize that God wants to bless us and provide for us so he’ll recall all of your sins while you’re praying so you can have the opportunity to repent those sins. When you close the prayer, there is this feeling of relief, of self worth while simultaneously feeling ashamed for the hour and a half prayer and everything you prayed about. If you stay in constant communication with God, through Jesus, everything will be better. You’ll find yourself not sinning as much because you’re constantly talking with your “father”. You’ll find it easier to deal with the daily situations that arise from living on this earth. You’ll have more of an understanding of God’s plan and purpose for your life. You’ll make better decisions. When praises go up, blessings come down (see Matthew 21:22). So…I said all of that to say this…the first step to being more Christlike and living a Godly life is to stay prayed up…ya dig. Peace & Blessing!
