Screw Head Concert pt. 1

Screw Head Concert pt. 1

As the late great DJ Screw would say….MAN HOLD UP!  I hooked up with this guy named Mark Anthony, owner of Mark Anthony Events which is a promotions company specializing in concert, club and artist promotion.  To make the long story short, he had clients, contacts and the know how but needed help, enter

Chuck.  We got together about 6 months ago and it has been on and poppin ever since.  We have events going on every week and a major event once or twice a month.  Yesterday, we had the Screw Head concert pt. 1 at Club Roxy.  The turnout was great.  The performers were great.  We profited.  What more could you ask for?  We started a tour called “Betcha Can’t Do It Like Me Tour”.  On this tour we feature 10-15 local rap groups, a couple major artist and host it at a well known club here in Houston.  So far we’ve taken the tour to Jet Lounge twice and Club Roxy.  It has been a great opportunity for the local artist to get some exposure.

February 10, 2009

So, a couple of Sunday’s ago I was invited to minister at Lele’s (good friend and featured artist on Get Saved volume 2) brother church on the northside (off of Sunbury) of Houston.  His church is “The Church of Jesus Christ from God”.  There was a great a turnout, we had a lot of fun, heard some great music and The Spirit was definitely in the building.  I can’t wait until next time…

Chuck’s Crown Vic on Dubbs

November 13, 2008

So…why am I writing this post?  In all honesty, not sure.  I recently purchased a set of 20 inch rims to put on my Ford Crown Victoria.  It just so happened that my digital camera was in the car at the time so I decided to get some footage of them being put on.  After looking at the footage and needing a reason to play with iMovie, I made a short video of the rims getting put on.  Of course as I rode off, I began noticing all sorts of Crown Vic’s with all kinds of rims and paint jobs.  But anyway…check mine out…peace!

Career Changes

October 24, 2008

As of October 1st 2008, I began working for StomperNet, LLC.  They are a great company to work for.  I have the opportunity to use my management skills and experience (gained at Pop Labs) to manage the creation of new online marketing related products.  I was originally contacted by them to perform at StomperNet Live 6 in Atlanta.  While there, I had the opportunity to meet the owners, staff and faculty.  After a few conversations with me, they found out that I was more than a great entertainer and online marketer, but that I was good at managing people and projects. They were in the process of working on some new products and projects and figured a person like myself who is familiar with the industry and project management would be a perfect fit.  After a meeting with the owners and the conference coming to a close, I was given a verbal offer.  I gave it some thought and considered what I would be leaving.  Pop Labs is a great place.  They were very knowledgeable and fun to work with.  I learned a lot about what works and doesn’t work not only online but in life overall.  I was very happy being supervisor and doing online marketing there.  The commute to the office was less than 10 minutes.  There, I was given the opportunity to create the SEO Rapper persona and they graciously accepted and marketed it.  We all know the one thing in life that is constant is change.  StomperNet presented me with an offer that I couldn’t refuse.  With multi-media being a big part of there success and something I am very interested in, it seemed it was time for a change.  Their focus on educating members and committing to quality products was a plus.  When it came down to doubling my salary and working from home, I was sold.  I had almost 6 great years with Pop Labs and I’m grateful for the opportunities they provided.  I still recommend them if someone needs a firm to handle their website creation, marketing, support and maintenance of their online campaign.  If you want to do it yourself, need tips, get some insider information, converse  with some of the best in online marketing and be taught in a fun and intuitive way then StomperNet is for you.  You should subscribe to The Net Effect and Stomping The Search Engines II.  We are currently working on a new product that will revolutionize how marketing online will be done.  Stay tuned…

Seattle’s Biz Kid$

July 25, 2008

I had a super case of jet lag and I recently realized that I hate layovers to switch planes. Last Friday I went to Seattle Washington to shoot a music video and feature for Biz Kid$. What is Biz Kid$? Great question. They are a TV show that comes on PBS dedicated to the young entrepreneur. Mainly teenagers, the show features success stories, how to’s and examples of how kids can become successful business people in a fun and entertaining way. I was contacted by Shilpa, one of the directors and an overall great person.

She told me about the show and what they wanted to do. This season they wanted to integrate online businesses and online marketing into the subject matter, and what better way than to feature the SEO Rapper. I wrote lyrics for Biz Kid$ describing how having a website with the proper marketing can be a great and lucrative business when done correctly.

I had a chance to be a tourist and check out what Seattle had to offer. Bekky, Biz Kid$, was the shiznit. She showed me all over downtown Seattle and took me to and from the airport. Mandy and Sean were very cool too. I think Seattle is a great place. The real estate prices were ridiculous, especially when compared to Houston. Biz Kid$ is a great show. I’ve told my children about it. Check out my Flickr page to see pictures.

Live Without Technology?

June 9, 2008

Remember years ago when a cell phone was unheard of? I remember being in high school with a pager. I was on my way to work in the morning when I realized that in this day and age it would be hard to live without technology. Walking out of the door, I grabbed my digital camera because I might want to take some pictures. I grabbed my BlackBerry. It’s like AMEX, don’t leave home without it. I grabbed my iPod. Plug it into the car radio and it becomes more effective than a compact disc changer. Almost forgot, grab the laptop and I’m ready to go. I finally get to work after sending tweets (from Twitterberry) about sitting in traffic only to get an IM with a link about the new BlackBerry Bold soon to be available. I think I’m going to go camping with no phone and no iPod for a few days. I’ll probably come back crazy.

Conversion Closing

March 3, 2008

As a Project Coordinator/Marketing Specialist at Pop Labs, I meet lots of business owners who sign up for our service mainly because they are seeking results. They’ve either tried SEO/SEM and didn’t do it correctly, don’t have time or simply don’t know how to do it. Majority of them tried and failed at it which resulted in loss revenues and time loss. I also realized that even though they are business owners, they don’t understand the sales process and how to “close deals” of potential new clients. I was probing for ideas for a new SEO rap, and I thought, why not do one on how to get conversions and how to close the deal. Read the rest of this entry »

Friends….How Many of us Have Them

January 9, 2008

I was blessed to grow up in a neighborhood where everyone knew each other.  My mom still stays there.  You meet these kids in elementary school not knowing that you would also attend junior high and high school together.  I said that to say that I’ve developed a close nit group of people who I can truly call friends.  Obviously, there’s a ton of associates and individuals I’m cool with but there is about 17 who I can really call friends.  Now, we have our ups and downs but at the end of the day….that’s still my n****.  I know someone said you can count true friends on one hand and in most cases that’s probably true.  I’ve been blessed to have friends that I consider brothers.  Friends are dependable.  Friends care.  Friends don’t lie to you no matter what it is.  Friends will tell you no sometimes.  Friends take care of your family when you aren’t available.  Friends don’t hate on you.  Sometimes friends are closer than family.  So…to quote the legendary Whodini…Friends, how many of us have them?
